Internet has been the host and domain registrar for Castlegate Inn since
March 2002.
Over the years, Castlegate Inn has increased reservations
by successfully optimizing the text on their site for "toronto bed
and breakfasts".
The Web site soon became their number one method of gaining customers
to their Inn.
But, since the decline in tourism (due
to 9/11, SARS, etc.) Castlegate Inn found they needed to increase the
number of reservations, and better manage client expectations.
Chanticleer Complete Internet suggested several methods to improve customer
satisfaction and increase the return on investment from castlegateinn.com
from site redesign, key-phrase research, search engine optimization,
link strategies, article marketing and newsletter marketing.
In August of 2006, Castlegate Inn began phase one of their ROI partnership
with Chanticleer Complete Internet.

Key-phrase research:
- The majority of their Web site visitor's found the castlegateinn.com
site by typing the company name. In other words, most of the visitors
found the site only because they already knew the company existed.
This is not a bad thing, it means that the company is known by word
of mouth and repeat visitors.
- The second most popular way that people found their site was by searches
of "toronto bed and breakfasts" and similar phrasing on Google.
- Also a few visitors came from many "long
tail" phrases that related to Castlegate Inn. Again, almost all
of these visitors were from searches on Google.
Recommendation:
- Our research revealed that castlegateinn.com could increase targetted
visitors by over 400% by optimizing the Web site for more related
and targetted phrases that people are actually typing into search
engines.
For example, the inn is for budget minded travellers, and
by targetting phrases such as cheap
motel toronto their Web site could potentially receive up to 480
searches per month on Google alone.
- Yahoo and Google are the two most popular search engines, yet our
research showed that almost no visitors came from the Yahoo search
engine or directory. By optimizing the site for Yahoo in addition
to Google, we could potentially increase traffic by another 70%.
Link Strategies:
- Most of the big search engines give higher placements on search results
pages to sites with the most high quality, one-way
links on relevant Web sites.
- We suggested that an aggressive link strategy would greatly increase
search engine results. This included an article marketing strategy
that would be a very cost effective method with continual growth
of relevant one-way-links.
